Pleasanton History

Ranchers and thoroughbred horse breeders were attracted by the fine climate and were followed by dairy farms, hop ranches and vineyards. It was after World War II that the advantages of life in a rural community close by a metropolitan area attracted subdividers and a steady flow of new residential homeowners. Main Street was first paved in 1924, but that could have been just yesterday since the streets in Pleasanton have been well maintained to this day.
